Becoming a Better Nurse Nursing Student The New Nurse or Graduate Nurse

3 Programs I wish I did after my RN

Nurses, have so many opportunities beyond the bedside nurse. I received my RN at 30 and soon after moved and married. As much as I do not regret my choices, if I received my license in my twenties I might have given one of these programs a try.

Traveling Nurse

The opportunity to see the country, move around and experience different communities as a nurse is still a dream, although now trying to start a family that would not work out well. The traveling nurse, goes to different parts of the country, the part that needs more nurses. The nurse stays in an area for a set number of weeks, and then you can move on to another area. The money made at the different hospital is a good salary, travel expense, and housing expenses paid. The opportunity to see the country with travel and housing paid, in my twenties that would be a dream come too. https://www.travelnursing.org/

Mercy Ships

Mercy Ships are ships that go port to port in African countries at any time there are anywhere from 1 to 3 ships docked. A group of doctors and nurses volunteer their time, a few weeks to a few years at a time. This is completely volunteer, and you pay your way. A friend of mine went for a month, when she came back she had stories of patients who lived with injuries and diseases their whole lives that the medical care we have would have been taken care of immediately. She loved the work so much that it was only a matter of six months until she applies for two years aboard the ship. https://www.mercyships.org/

The Red Cross

The Red Cross, an organization, know for blood donates and disaster relief. The nurse has had a long relationship with The Red Cross. Whenever disaster has occurred, whether flood, fire, tornado, or hurricane, I always wanted to help. The Red Cross allows for nurses to volunteer, in several manners, at a local, state, and national. I wanted to travel the country and help when people needed it the most. But The Red Cross allows for so many more opportunities. https://www.redcross.org/about-us/who-we-are/nursing-health/nursing-network.html

No matter if you’re bored with where you are, want more experience, or want to help others. These are three possibilities out of so many other than can be explored further.
